Wildwing was a liver and white, spotted and ticked German Shorthaired Pointer. He was born on April 22, 1998 and was a son of Hogan and Bumper. He was 26″ at the shoulder and weighed 80 pounds. Wildwing was a very intelligent and laid-back dog. He loved waterwork and hunting, and was extremely easy to train and very willing to please. He had a sweet disposition and was a big softy. He was great with kids.
Wildwing acquired all the points needed for a Canadian show championship in just two of the four weekends he was shown. He repeatedly went Best Puppy. He also went Best of Breed, over Specials, numerous times. On March 27, 1999, Wildwing completed his Canadian Show Championship (CH). Wildwing also earned his Canine Good Citizen Title (CGC) on February 27, 1999.
He had qualifiers on his American Senior Hunter title and his Canadian Field Dog title. On October 28th, 2000, he completed his Canadian Companion Dog obedience title (CD). He received one second placement and two thirds. He then ventured to the United States for his American Show Champion Title. He earned a 4-Point Major, on his first weekend down. With limited showing, Wildwing completed his American Show Champion Title on January 11, 2003 in Florida. Wildwing was an amazing young dog to have earned two titles prior to his turning one year of age.
Wildwing was one of our three shorthairs chosen by Purina to be featured on their Purina Pro Plan Selects dog food bags. He was also featured in magazines such as Dogs in Canada, Readers Digest and other dog-related magazines in which Purina advertises. This was a great honour and compliment for us.
Wildwing was a proven male and sired some very sound and beautiful puppies over the years, all of them field, show and obedience capable.
Wildwing acted and played like a young dog right up to his last days with us, and enjoyed hunting, long walks and leisurely days at the lake. He was 15 years old when he died and will be forever fondly remembered by our family.
