Roxy is a liver and white, spotted and ticked German Shorthaired Pointer. She was born September 11, 2008. She is the daughter of VC. Lucas Von Burkhart (Luke) and Fogelhund’s No Sleep’tl Brooklyn (Brooklyn). Brooklyn was a full sister of Montana.
Roxy is a real sweetheart and has an abundance of natural ability when it comes to field work. Her retrieves are direct, calm, controlled and to hand. She is very soft mouthed and gentle with the birds. We cannot keep her out of the water – she loves to swim and participate in water retrieves. She never hesitates to leap in from the end of our dock, which is about five feet above the water’s surface.
She went Best Puppy and Best of Breed at the Muskoka Dog Show, and earned four of 10 points toward her Canadian Show Champion title. She completed her Conformation Title in 2010, and her Companion Dog Title in the same year. She placed with two seconds and two thirds.
In July 2012, Roxy earned her Rally Novice title. Again she amazed all by earning all four qualifiers in two days. She never had a score under 96/100 and earned two second placements, a third and fourth.
In September 2013, Roxy completed four American Senior Hunter qualifiers in two days with high scores, then finished her title at the following test, with ease. The judges and participants raved about her abilities, especially since she had just given birth to a litter of puppies 10 weeks earlier.
Next year we plan to complete her American Master Hunter title and Canadian Field Dog titles. We also will be working on advanced obedience and rally titles.
Roxy was bred to Riley in 2012, 2013 and again in 2015 – her last litter. She had 11 pups in her first litter, 13 in her second litter and 16 in her last, setting a record. She produced both ticked and livers. These puppies are all proving to be as competent as their parents!
