Megan was a liver and white, spotted and ticked German Shorthaired Pointer. She was born April 28, 1992. She was 22 1/2″ at the shoulder. She was a phenomenal little hunting dog.
Megan acquired her Field Dog Title in two consecutive weekends with top scores and finished with five qualifiers. In 1993, she won the Ontario All Pointing Breed Dual Dog Award trophy at their Field Dog Specialty. Also in 1993, Megan was #6 Field Dog in Canada and #2 Shorthair. Megan had her Canadian Show Champion title. In 1995, Megan completed five qualifiers to earn her American Senior Hunter Title. In 1999, Megan earned her Canine Good Citizen Title. Megan worked at her American Master Hunter title. She also completed her Companion Dog obedience title.
Since we had not yet established our own kennel name, Megan carried the Huntersglen kennel name.
In 2000, Purina kicked off the millennium by hosting a search across North America of all kennels. From this search, 19 kennels were selected, including ours. Megan was chosen as one of Purina’s Champions. We were treated like queens, had a photo shoot, roomed at the Delta Inn in Mississauga and taken to dinner theatre afterwards. Megan was one of 12 chosen to appear in the Purina 2000 Calendar. She was placed in the month of November and forever will remain our “calendar girl” (see photo).
Megan produced some beautiful puppies and was a very devoted mother. She loved water work and was an avid swimmer. She had a very quiet, calm temperament and was extremely gentle with children. She was very pleasing to work with and extremely biddable. She was an absolutely wonderful family member in our home.
Megan is very dearly missed and holds a special place in our hearts.
